Research

My research agenda centers on sociology of the life course and the transition to adulthood, including pathways to higher education and how singles navigate potential union (non-)formation. Within these research areas, I focus primarily on the changing markers of adulthood as they intersect with race, ethnicity, gender, and sexuality. Another strand of my research focuses on Asians and Asian Americans, primarily on how race/ethnicity shapes experiences of racial discrimination, bullying, and violence in ways that may be detrimental to mental health and transitions to adulthood. Finally, I have published research related to the COVID-19 pandemic and its disruptions to relationships and social life.

My work has been supported by over $17,000 in competitive funding, I have published eight peer-reviewed articles using both quantitative and qualitative methods. In addition, I have presented my research at multiple national and international conferences.

You can find links to my peer-reviewed publications below, or you can download a copy of my full CV here. If you do not have access to a journal article but want to read the paper please contact me.
