Hannah Tessler

PhD Candidate in Sociology, Yale University

My research advances the sociology of race and ethnicity, sociology of gender, sociology of sexualities, sociology of family, and sociology of education. I employ both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies to examine the life course, with a focus on traditional markers in the transition to adulthood, such as pursuing higher education and union formation. My dissertation project focuses on investigating the experiences of single adults and how they navigate their relationships, and has been funded by a 2023 NSF/ASA Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grant.

My work is published (or forthcoming) in peer-reviewed academic journals including Sexualities, Journal of Family Theory and Review, Sociology Compass, The Journal of Higher Education, International Review of Education, American Journal of Criminal Justice, Journal of School Violence, Victims and Offenders, and Research in Social Stratification and Mobility.
